Invited in January-February 2021 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, KosmoSuna joins musician Diego Garcia and together they experiment, exchange and perform music for the residency project "No Rio Há Uma Cidade Que Nos Separa - In the city there is a river that separates us" organised and produced by artists Gabriel Cordovez, Tone Haldrup Lorenzen (CuntsCollective), Dani Paiva De Miranda and Laura De Castro, together with performers Anthony Silva, Mariana Maia, Heiki Rippinen, Manfrin, Kilderli Iara, Rainha Diaba, Rikke Bogetoft and Rezmorah.
From this new collaboration emerged a visual and sonic journey. The short artistic film 'No Rio Há Uma Cidade Que Nos Separa', created and directed by Rezmorah, illustrates in 12 minutes the final durational performance that lasted 12 hours. The film was produced and edited live during the performance. Upon returning to France, KosmoSuna embarked on a second journey by composing a track to accompany the film.

Alongside the film, KosmoSuna also released a digital version of the track, inviting listeners to embark on an emotional and immersive journey. The music provides an extension of the film's vision, allowing listeners to experience a broader range of imaginative possibilities.
Despite the challenges posed by a global pandemic that has made physical gatherings impossible, they have made every effort to stay connected, creative, and engaged. The energies, desires, and vitality of each member demonstrated that even in difficult times, it is possible to be responsible as an artist or simply as a human being, and to elevate the essentiality of our existence.
The adventure involved a dozen performers, creators, and freelancers, and explored themes of (de)colonialism and territoriality. On February 6, 2021, an installation-performance entitled 'No Rio há uma cidade que nos separa / In the city there is a river that separates us' was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, lasting for 12 hours from noon to midnight. This ephemeral event posed reflective limits on (de)colonialism and territorial heterogeneity.
The project sparked a dialogue about the absurdity of social, hegemonic norms, political brutality, and patriarchal domination through the embodiment of sweaty bodies, breathing, and multiple artistic perspectives.
Coming from peripheral regions of Brazil, Northern France or Scandinavia, they created and exchanged during 36 days around their own artistic practice, de-colonial discussions and horizontal practices of coexistence and collaboration.
After a month of research, the residency culminated in a 12-hour performance-installation at "Solar de Santa" (a space linked to the co-production of the project). The space was open to the public, with a limited number of people per time slot. All practices were based on trans-feminist dynamics with a central focus on "opaque thought," inspired by the French poet and philosopher Édouard Glissant. This reference is associated with accepting differences without wanting to understand or possess them. The practices also emphasized the sharing of knowledge and the importance of coexistence.
By recognizing the unique potential of each individual who participated in this collective project, the residents explored the concepts of ephemerality and precariousness. They prioritized giving space to each person as an individual before opening up to the collective, which drew strength from the freedom of each individual.
The residency was a true experimental laboratory for affirmation and joy in an ephemeral and tangible space-time. It was almost an illusion, magical yet firmly present.
Since the inception of KosmoSuna, its members have always found themselves in diverse and varied forms. It is truly through the collective and multiple perspectives, where harmony and duality coexist, that they reveal their singularities. The collective leads to a transcending of oneself and a deep encounter with one's being, losing control. It is a breathing space, a dialogue between oneself and others.
This new musical session is the translation of KosmoSuna's singularity while remaining in sync with the collective. Without these singularities, the color of this creation would probably be less interesting or simply non-existent...
